Hello and welcome. I’m Ralph Bodie, a Republican candidate running for office as the District 1 Representative to the U.S. Congress.
I’m not a politician. In fact, until recently, I never saw myself serving in any government office. But my growing concern about the deterioration of our country made me realize that by not running, I’d be part of the problem. And that’s not who I am. I want to be part of the solution. So I plan to go to Washington to help fix a broken system.
Statesman, Not Politician
When I go to Congress, I won’t go as a politician, but as a statesman. I care about the Constitution of the United States. The freedoms we enjoy are all a result of our Founding Fathers. Unless we’re vigilant, we’ll lose those freedoms. And, once they’re gone, we’ll never see them again.
Limited Government
Our founders built this country in the belief that private enterprise would run this nation. They believed in an entrepreneurial spirit and free enterprise. They also believed in limited government. Now government has grown to the point that there’s no end in sight. There’s no rationale for the spending we’re doing.
The Economy
The economy is the number one problem for the government, and I don’t believe the government should be involved in even more aspects of business. The government can’t run Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. They waste a lot of money. They cannot even run Amtrak effectively. Our government should be concerned with providing us with protection from foreign aggression and managing the general welfare of our nation. Government should empower the American free enterprise system and limit its regulation.
Health Care
Over the last year and a half, we’ve spent so much time discussing health care, and the viewpoints remain divided by almost 180 degrees. Our founders didn’t believe decisions could be made from that wide a gap. There’s no reason to believe the government can run health care. We don’t even know what the health care bill looks like. Let private industry run health care.
Morality/Pro-Life
Morality is the basis of who we are as Americans. We were formed as a Judeo-Christian country. We are a nation where people can come from all over the world and practice their religions, as well. Morality – religion – teaches us how to conduct ourselves, with morals and faith as our lifeline. Now we have a government that believes money should be collected and distributed by the government instead of letting faith-based organizations serve people in need. I also believe that a tough pro-life stance should be taken by the government.
Proud to Be a Citizen of the U.S.
I’m a citizen of the United States of America. Every American should be proud to be a citizen. I plan to be a vocal advocate for the United States of America and for our District here in Nebraska.
Return to Common Sense
We need real men and women in Washington. When elected, I will help return common sense to our application of government. I will be a member of Congress who’s willing to bring us back to where we need to be.
